CELEBRATE RECOVERY

WELCOME

Celebrate Recovery is a 12-step Christ-centered approach to recovery. The goal of this ministry is to integrate worship, large group teaching, and special focus small breakout groups. These peer-led groups are another avenue to lock arms with a community of individuals seeking healing and restoration.

THE ROAD TO RECOVERY - EIGHT PRINCIPLES BASED ON THE BEATITUDES

Realize I’m not God; I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable. (Step 1)

“Happy are those who know that they are spiritually poor.” Matthew 5:3a TEV

Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover. (Step 2)
“Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4 TEV, NIV

Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control. (Step 3)
“Happy are the meek.” Matthew 5:5a TEV

Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust. (Steps 4 and 5)
“Happy are the pure in heart.” Matthew 5:8a TEV

Voluntarily submit to any and all changes God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects. (Steps 6 and 7)
“Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires” Matthew 5:6a TEV

Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I’ve done to others when possible, except when to do so would harm them or others. (Steps 8 and 9)
“Happy are the merciful.” Matthew 5:7a TEV; “Happy are the peacemakers” Matthew 5:9 TEV

Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will. (Steps 10 and 11)

Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and my words. (Step 12)
“Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires.” Matthew 5:10 TEV

BREAK-OUT GROUPS

Chemically Dependent

Individual groups for men and women

If you find that you cannot quit drinking or using entirely, even when you honestly want to, or if you have little control over the amount you consume, you are probably an alcoholic and/or an addict. If that is the case, you may be suffering from a problem that only a spiritual solution will conquer.

Financial Recovery

Individual groups for men and women

This group is designed to help you, with God’s power, gain financial freedom from your debts so you can start managing your finances God’s way. In addition, the core hurts, hang-ups, and habits that have caused the financial trouble and stolen the serenity and joy that God has intended, will be overcome.

Adult Children of Family Dysfunction

Individual group for men (formerly children of alcoholics)

The family problem of alcoholism made us “co-victims”—those who take on the characteristics of the alcoholic without necessarily ever taking a drink. Choosing to recognize and exit the modeled behaviors of alcoholism is the beginning of recovery for the ACFD.

Physical, Emotional and Sexual Abuse

Individual group for women

This group is for those who have endured past physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse. Recovery includes healing from the traumas done to us at sometime in our past, as well as healing from the influence these past experiences continue to have on our lives.

Co-Dependency

Individual groups for women and men

This group is for those struggling with the compulsion to rescue & take care of others, have difficulty setting boundaries, or recognizing their own worth. Members in this group learn to express their needs & wants in healthy ways.

Eating Disorders and Food Addiction

Individual groups for women

This recovery group’s purpose is to learn a new way of living. The Eating Disorder group addresses Anorexia and Bulimia. The Food Addiction group addresses compulsive overeating and those on the diet roller coaster. We have learned, our tendency is to compulsively try to control food or to be out of control with food. At your own pace, you will learn to trust, to ask for your needs to be met, to say “no” when it is appropriate, to express your feelings, and to hang around when all you want to do is run.

Women's Love and Relationship Addiction

Individual groups for women

This group deals with Romance and Relationship Addiction only, and provides a safe place to deal with the depression, isolation, lack of trust, and the unhealthy use of love and relationships as a means of achieving worth.

Sexual Addiction

Individual groups for women and men

Support group for those seeking recovery from lust and compulsive sexual behaviors. This group provides fellowship, is a safe place to share our struggles, pain, and victories, and helps to establish accountability and mutual support among the group members throughout the week.

Recovery from Anger

Individual groups for men and women

These recovery groups are for men and women who find that anger is their first response to problems of any size. The anger may be very evident as rage, or less obvious in terms of withdrawal and isolation. These groups focus on managing a God-given emotion in constructive ways.

Co-Dependent Women in Relationship with a Sexually Addicted Man

Individual groups for men and women

Sexual addiction and its causes are largely unknown to most people. This group not only provides support, but also helps women seek an understanding of their own personal issues. Co-Dependents can then confront their own denial and behavior while gaining insight and understanding of their spouse’s sexual addiction.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.
